Seattle

I had such a grand time in Seattle. I stayed with my dear friends Beth and Nathan Key and their newest addition Ethan for a few days before work.  He is such a great non fussy baby.  And of course Beth is a great mom. Plus they got me hooked on House.  The acting is sometimes a bit weak, but the sarcastic banter is pretty fantastic.

 He likes fingers ALOT.
HE is a lady killer.
Seattle is absolutely so gorgeous.  I really really love this city.  I just happened to be there on one of the best days.  NO rain and NOT hot. A great combo.  It really does rain a ton there....that is why I don't think that I could live there. This day was quite clear and you could see Mt. Rainer (look closely to the right).  So incredibly beautiful.
Had a grand time with friend Derek Roth.  We drove all around Seattle and spent the evening in Ballard. Plus got to see my favorite shop: Blackbird.  Had a delicious dinner and even more delicious dessert. Homemade almost organic ice cream (is there any other dessert!?)  Unfortunately they did not mix.
The rest of time in Seattle.....was alright.  I wasn't feeling so great for part of it and for work I covered two positions instead of one.  So I have to say I killed it.  and I saw some dear friends...pete, tess, & dorian...I  just wish I could have spent more time with them, esp in such a great city. Seattle you are loved.

Thoughts on Men.

I am often asked what "type" of guy that I am interested in. And the truth is that I really don't have a certain type. I just like it when a guy know what style he likes and works it. I am enamored when someone can truly put a look together and look effortlessly chic. So here are a few men that I feel have done that exceptionaly well. Hats off to you.

...but I DO love a sexy cardi.

The View from Up Here

Here are a few photos from the flight to Seattle.

These kept me company for the long flight...

Fay Sh-may

We were supposed to have a Hurricane in Orlando, FL but it didn't end up being much more than a windy Thunderstorm. We got every single thing off our backyard, which is more work than you think. Here is how it went down.

1. James & John put on goggles and went Jet Skiing during the storm.

2. We put all the lawn chairs in the pool for a bath.

3. Had a mini- Office Party. Almost all of season 1.

4. Then packed for Seattle....checking the flight status about a million times. But my flight was not delayed.

Little Kid on the Block

This is our galaxy: The Milky Way. The next time you want to be reminded of the Grandeur of God remember, "Our solar system is about the size of a quarter and the size of the Milky Way galaxy is about the size of the North American continent."

"God's promises are like the stars; the darker the night the brighter they shine” -David Nicholas"

God you continually amaze me with your constant devotion to my life, which is miniscule in regards to your Creation.

Job 37

1 At this my heart pounds
and leaps from its place.

2 Listen! Listen to the roar of his voice,
to the rumbling that comes from his mouth.

3 He unleashes his lightning beneath the whole heaven
and sends it to the ends of the earth.

4 After that comes the sound of his roar;
he thunders with his majestic voice.
When his voice resounds,
he holds nothing back.

5 God's voice thunders in marvelous ways;
he does great things beyond our understanding.

6 He says to the snow, 'Fall on the earth,'
and to the rain shower, 'Be a mighty downpour.'

7 So that all men he has made may know his work,
he stops every man from his labor.

8 The animals take cover;
they remain in their dens.

9 The tempest comes out from its chamber,
the cold from the driving winds.

10 The breath of God produces ice,
and the broad waters become frozen.

11 He loads the clouds with moisture;
he scatters his lightning through them.

12 At his direction they swirl around
over the face of the whole earth
to do whatever he commands them.

13 He brings the clouds to punish men,
or to water his earth and show his love.

14 "Listen to this, Job; stop and consider God's wonders.

15 Do you know how God controls the clouds
and makes his lightning flash?

16 Do you know how the clouds hang poised,
those wonders of him who is perfect in knowledge?

17 You who swelter in your clothes
when the land lies hushed under the south wind,

18 can you join him in spreading out the skies,
hard as a mirror of cast bronze?

19 "Tell us what we should say to him;
we cannot draw up our case because of our darkness.

20 Should he be told that I want to speak?
Would any man ask to be swallowed up?

21 Now no one can look at the sun,
bright as it is in the skies
after the wind has swept them clean.

22 Out of the north he comes in golden splendor;
God comes in awesome majesty.

23 The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power;
in his justice and great righteousness, he does not oppress.

24 Therefore, men revere him,
for does he not have regard for all the wise in heart?

PS. We are having a Hurricane.

Ha. Ha. After the Fact.

Yesterday I had a most perfect Sunday. Sleeping in, Reading, Eating, Watching Jerry Seinfield and finishing out the day with some good old fashioned Jet Skiing. And as funny as it may sound...and it is truly funny...I sat (in my bathing suit) on a pile of red ants. And the ants, naturally, did not like being sat upon so they proceeded to bite me. Stupid decision you may say. But these ants were no ordinary ants...they were microscopic. I have 20/20 vision and I mean you could barely see them unless you got up very very close. I had to tell my brother and dad that they were sitting on ants too. But boy did they BURN. I took a quick turn on the Jet Skis and then headed to the shower....still burning. It was funny at the time, but now funnier since the burning has ceased :} Cheers.

Thanks Mom.

So my mom really hit it out of the park with this dress. I don't know where she found it, but I am absolutely in love with it. It has a lovely Audrey Hepburn quality to it. I really love the attention to detail....The velvet bow, the ruching around the waist, the perfect print. And it fits like a dream (although I am toying with having it taken up at the bottom as it is below my knees, but maybe I will keep the old school glamour going.) My friend Jenna is getting married this Fall and I think I will wait to wear it then.

24 years of John Peelle Roquemore

Today Is the Celebration of the Birth of my brother John. I sure love him. We have spent 24 years together. We get along much better now than let's say when I was 8 & he was 4. At that time we would have Epic fights. We have come along way since then. Now I quite enjoy the time spent with him. He is smart, talented, and funny, not to mention cute.

Happy Birthday Brother. I love you & always will.

Just for Fun.

I saw Shaq yesterday at the Millennia Mall. And he is enormous. In a good way naturally. He 7" 1" and the guy beside him looked like a midget.

A Few Things of Late....

1. Honestly I am missing watching the Olympics. We don't have Television channels at my house. It doesn't bother me a bit and it is less of a distraction for me...but during the Olympics I really miss it. I caught some of it the other night at a friends house and it was glorious. Swimming is so amazing. Michael Phelps is my hero.

2. My phone has been acting weird lately.

3. I get to see my friend Lori Beckmen four times this week. I am very happy about that.

4. I leave for Seattle in a week & I can't wait.

5. A new fantastic band for me: Slow Club. You can't be sad when listening to their stuff. Look them up & get ready to sing-a-long...."When I go" & "Me & You"

6. This is one of my favorite passages and often gets me through the rough spots: Lamentations 3:19-24.

19 I remember my affliction and my wandering,
the bitterness and the gall.

20 I well remember them,
and my soul is downcast within me.

21 Yet this I call to mind
and therefore I have hope:

22 Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.

23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.

24 I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him
."

Creator you are so beautiful & faithful to us.....

Half My Life & I'm better for it.

This is my best friend Christi Noel Unterwagner Welsh. I realize that you don't really call people your best friend after you're in high school...but that is where we met, so it still works. I met her when I was 14 years old. I wish I had a pic of us then. I was a stunner in High School...let me tell you. Since I met her at the age of 14 I have known her for HALF of my life, as I am now 28. I seriously can't believe that. She is not perfect, but close to it. She is now married and has two kids. Our lifestyles are very different, but we still are kindred spirits.

Here are some reasons why I love her still. She is....

~Kind
~Forgiving
~Strong
~Non-Judgmental
~Beautiful (mostly on the inside)
~A great cook
~A ridiculously awesome mother
~A lover of laughter (i.e. laughs at my jokes)
~Generous
~Pure in Spirit
~Can almost eat more ice cream than I

Here are some photos of her family. They look like they should be in a magazine or something.

I love you Christi....Thanks for being mine.
I win.

The Happening..:What Happened!?

What the heck. I saw The Happening last night. I mean seriously bad choice Dana Marie. It was harsh. The premise of the movie was pretty gay and of course preachy. The plants were giving off some chemical that made humans kill themselves. I admit the reason I went was to see Zooey Deschanel. I think she is adorable with her big blue gooey eyes. But gosh the acting was Horrid. Marky Marky was in the movie. and I have to hand it to him in The Departed. He knocked it out of the park in that one, but back up the bus in The Haps. It was so over scripted and just didn't have a natural flow. And the ending was a bust. I have learned to be more decisive on what I watch. So lesson learned kids...say no to The Happening.

Sheer Grandeur

I had quite a grand experience yesterday. I am live in Florida. So those in FL will quite understand what I am talking about. Around noonish I had lunch outside on the lanai. The heavens however were open and it was raining and I mean a storming. It was a great show. There was also an incredible lighting show. There was one that was a double hitter and was the loudest sound that I think I have ever heard. I resorted to plugging my ears after that in hopes to not become deaf...as many of my friends claim that I am a bit deaf already...what I didn't hear that. But it I felt that it was just scratching the surface of how powerful God is. This storm was pretty fierce and it wasn't even a taste of what He can do. It reminds me of the situation b.w God and Moses, when Moses had to hide his face while God passed by and then he was still was shining for weeks. We could not handle it if God showed us what he is truly capable. But the thing is that He is capable of doing even grander things in my life if I would just trust in Him. But I still get discouraged by what I can see on the horizon. I am a work in progress what can I say.

Cheeky.

I stole these from Parker a while back. I just think some people are just so creative. I mean who would have thought....A pile of trash. It is a long departure from the regular dog or bird that you make when shining a light on your hands. Cheers.

P.S. You can click on any picture to get a bigger view of it.

Gator Bites

Yup. I had Gater Bites last night. My mother, father and brother John went out to dinner last night. We dined at the Black Hammock, which is actually about ten minutes from our house, but is right on Lake Jessup which is actually quite beautiful. It is really out in the middle of nowhere and has the feel of an out of the way diner. So my Dad ordered up some Gator Bites and I did eat some. It wasn't too bad...besides knowing it was alligator and not chicken. They were covered in Buffalo Sauce and dipped in Blue Cheese.... The ironical thing about it was that my dad had just caught a very small alligator in a retention pond in our neighborhood, (not the lake behind our house). And so they took it to Lake Jessup to release it, but a few night later we were eating the alligators out of that lake...Soooo Hmmmm.....

And then I went home and watched Jim Gaffigan. If you have not seen this you really should...one of the best lines...Socks...You know I'm dying for you sins right.

Reading....

I am reading Anna Karenina right now.  I truely love reading and this looks to be a really in-depth story. So I can't wait to really get into this one.  I have heard it is a story of redemption, which to me, is the best kind. I am on page 78 out of 851. So that being said I should be finished it in about 8 or 9 years.  I'll let you know how it turns out then.

I'm really into this right now....

Oh Audrey...

I watched Breakfast at Tiffany's last night.  If you haven't see it, you should. Right away. Like now.  I don't know of any other movie that has such taste and class, plus it's a bit cheeky.  The story line is actually kinda dark (gigolos and call girls), but the feel of the movie is so light and jovial.  There are so many things that make this my favorite film.  Thanks to my brother John for buying it for me.  Thanks to Audrey for being such a classy broad. I want to be you. Here are a few lesser known shots of the film.....
